About the brand
For generations, the Kodama family has been active as a pottery in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture. In 1946, the former chairman, Kaoru Kodama, started selling pottery with a single cart, and 11 years later established Saikai Toki Co., Ltd., a general trading company for pottery in the Hizen area.
The company name is derived from the Saikai Bridge that was built nearby at the time. It contains the desire to "become a bridge between people and goods and enrich people's lives." The idea goes beyond the sea, starting with Singapore, expanding overseas bases to the United States, China, and Europe, delivering Hasami ware and other tableware to countries around the world.
