益子焼 Yoshizawa kiln White Silver Motif Tray small

$22.00 USD

A small plate with a motif of the "Silverware" tray that was used by European aristocrats in the Middle Ages.

It is difficult to add design to the handles and rims of tatara-zukuri, but through trial and error, Yoshizawa created patterns unique to silver tableware. A hole is made in the part of the handle with a fine pattern, giving it a delicate image.

The color is finished with "White" without gloss. Fine iron points and irregularities can be seen throughout.

It is a plate with a strong presence by just placing it even it is small. It is capable to create a picture-perfect atmosphere. The more you use it, the more you will like it.

Disclaimer

The pottery of Yoshizawa Kiln is all handmade, it is not recommended for those who prefer neatly arranged pottery. Even if they are made the same thing, they are all different in size, shape and color.

You can see fine iron dots, blue dots, unevenness, and small holes in the handmade vessels. There are individual differences on the pattern of the edges. You can feel the unevenness, pooling, and flow of the glaze on some pieces. Some of the bottoms have swirly wavy lines.

Be careful when using a metal spoon! Light colored dishes such as white and gray, may leave traces called “metal marks” when rubbed strongly with a metal spoon. This is because metal is weaker than pottery, and fine pieces of metal chipped off due to friction enter the cracks of the pottery and remain.

The appearance of the baked color and pattern is different from time to time. A kiln change( chemical reaction)called Gohonte occurred, some look like pink satins, and some have cracks that appear between the glaze and the substrate. No worries at all.
