Designer piece.
A deep plate with large and wide rim designed with the 12 birth month flowers of the year. These are the flowers exist in real life.
Mr. Nariyoshi from design department drew the flowers on the vessel, and it is a wonderful drawing that will make you sigh. Delicate and somewhat nostalgic, the tasteful atmosphere like an illusion in an old foreign book. The whole Yoshizawa kiln were filled with anticipation of how these lovely flowers would turn out.
The glaze applied to the white clay base is called "Pearl stone gray". It is a rich color that has a pearl-like luster, but at the same time, it has the strength of a stone with shadows created by fine unevenness, showing a deep and complex expression.
Because of it's depth, it seems to be a versatile vessel that can be used for various purposes, such as a juicy side dish or a salad plate. You can enjoy eating and talking while looking for the birth flowers of the people around the dining table, or just look for it even if you don't ( have to )know what the flower of your birth month is.
It would be a great gift for people who loves flowers.

Disclaimer
The pottery of Yoshizawa Kiln is all handmade, it is not recommended for those who prefer neatly arranged pottery. Even if they are made the same thing, they are all different in size, shape and color.
You can see fine iron dots, blue dots, unevenness, and small holes in the handmade vessels. There are individual differences on the pattern of the edges. You can feel the unevenness, pooling, and flow of the glaze on some pieces. Some of the bottoms have swirly wavy lines.
Be careful when using a metal spoon! Light colored dishes such as white and gray, may leave traces called “metal marks” when rubbed strongly with a metal spoon. This is because metal is weaker than pottery, and fine pieces of metal chipped off due to friction enter the cracks of the pottery and remain.
